چکیده

The direct weight optimization (DWO) approach is a method for finding optimal function estimates via convex optimization, applicable to nonlinear system identification. In this paper, an extended version of the DWO approach is introduced. A general function class description — which includes several important special cases — is presented, and different examples are given. A general theorem about the principal shape of the weights is also proven. Copyright c ©2005 IFAC

Direct Weight Optimization in Nonlinear Func- tion Estimation and System Identification

The Direct Weight Optimization (DWO) approach to estimating a regression function and its application to nonlinear system identification has been proposed and developed during the last few years by the authors. Computationally, the approach is typically reduced to a quadratic or conic programming and can be effectively realized. The obtained estimates demonstrate optimality or sub-optimality in...

Direct Weight Optimization in Statistical Estimation and System Identification

The Direct Weight Optimization (DWO) approach to statistical estimation and the application to nonlinear system identification has been proposed and developed during the last few years. The optimality or sub-optimality of the obtained estimates, in a minimax sense ...

The Comparison of Direct and Indirect Optimization Techniques in Equilibrium Analysis of Multibody Dynamic Systems

The present paper describes a set of procedures for the solution of nonlinear static-equilibrium problems in the complex multibody mechanical systems. To find the equilibrium position of the system, five optimization techniques are used to minimize the total potential energy of the system. Comparisons are made between these techniques. A computer program is developed to evaluate the equality co...

System identification of a beam with frictional contact

The nonlinear system becomes an area with numerous investigations over the past decades. The conventional modal analysis could not be  applied on nonlinear continuous system which makes it impossible to construct the reduced order models and obtain system response based on limited number of measurement points. Nonlinear normal modes provide a useful tool for extending modal analysis to nonlinea...

Non-linear System Identification Via Direct Weight Optimization, Report no. LiTH-ISY-R-2696

A general framework for estimating nonlinear functions and systems is described and analyzed in this paper. Identification of a system is seen as estimation of a predictor function. The considered predictor function estimate at a particular point is defined to be affine in the observed outputs, and the estimate is defined by the weights in this expression. For each given point, the maximal mean...
